It would be interesting to know how much it cost to stage Will’s Q and A?
And how many people actually watched it..

The official FOIR response:

‘’The individual contractual cost relating to the Facebook Live question and answer session with Mr Will Jackson via the Farmers Weekly Facebook page is commercially competitive information for Farmers Weekly and we are obligated to confidentiality. We have therefore applied Section 41 of the Freedom of Information Act on confidentiality which allows for the recognition that the pricing information was provided with an obligation of confidentiality and disclosure would constitute a breach of confidence, which is likely to be successfully actionable through a court for that breach. Disclosure would be an unauthorised use of the information to the detriment of that organisation’’

So we can ask FW what it would cost?

It seems they always seem to be spending money on stuff we don't need.

It's obviously a lot otherwise why hide it? So is it £1000, £10,000, £20,000?

Whatever it did cost I would say was a waste of money.

Finally, why agree to a payment which must be kept confidential? Surely the answer to that would be "We have to declare our expenditure so confidentiality is not an option".

I get it that organisations like AHDB can't spend all their time on places like this, but I think there is a way. Time limit it.

Maybe say they're going to come on for 3 days of discussions/questions. Keep the levy payers happy. Not endlessly ongoing and too time consuming for AHDB.

Nice try.
Of course they may have signed a confidentiality agreement with farmers weekly, or they may not.
In the same way you were told that imported grain had far more checks and was a more ‘trusted’ commodity than home grown grain and that proved not to be true.
The question is; Should a levy payer funded organisation be signing commercially sensitive agreements with their suppliers anyway? Surely, their spending should be open to scrutiny.

There was a FOIR done a few months back, asking how much AHDB had paid to AIC when sponsoring the AIC conference (yes, levy payers contributed a bit of cash to AIC, the organisation that won't let UK producers sell grain to feed mills under same terms as imports).

AHDB readily provided that information. Is that different to the Farmers Weekly FOIR?

NFU- AIC-RT-AHDB-FW-CF-NFU-AIC...........

See Circle-Jerk.

Sorry, I've just googled Circle-jerk and it was a little more explicit than I was expecting.

Too late to edit post so here is a definition;

circle jerk

The act of constantly sharing the same opinion in a forum full of people who are obviously known to have the same opinion as yours, therefor granting you free upvotes to said opinion, while gathering downvotes to anyone that opposes you on the matter

I couldn't possibly comment on whether the more explicit version applies... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

The way I would explain it is by comparing it to someone spreading pig muck with a rotaspreader with a following wind. They have now realised that they’ve left the back window of the tractor open and simply shut it.

in other words, they felt they could spend levy payers money how ever they felt fit and now it’s a bit more difficult…
