MASSEY 290 Turbo choice.

Rebuilding an MF 290 and going to put a turbo on to give it a slight lift as it is just a little underpowered for slurry mixing. Don't want to get into the whole to turbo or not 4.236 better suited thing, just trying to figure out what turbo to use. Have sorted oil cooler and filterhead and exhaust and manifold will be straight forward but want to get turbo sizing and type right. Anyone out there know what turbos were used successfully back in the day?
TIA.

Holset turbos were the ones we had from Tb turbos [long gone now] ,590,690 and the 6160 were all turboed. The 290 here was a relay good one punched way above its weight ,when we put the turbo on the 590 with 1200 hrs on the clock the service manager nearly had kittens ,"thats like asking yer granny to run a marathon" he said ,it was just over 9000 hrs and still a powerhouse when it was sold. Their should be specs available as to the optimum size of turbo for a 248 engine.

Any idea where I would look for specs? Plenty for 236 engine as it was commonly turboed but can"t find any for 248. Even sent an email to Garrett, no reply yet.

Maybe you could ask these people?
On the Jcb parts that comes up as the 4236 engine using the Mitsubishi turbo which has no wastegate or regulation, but I will give them a shout as they are only 10 miles down the road from me.

Search 2674A200 it's the Perkins part no for a turbo for a 1000 series, I've one here to fit onto a Renault when I get around to it. Bought it cheap off eBay brand new. But a copy is on there now for £265
