Massey 3095 PTO

Hi,
I have a 1990 3095
From what I know it only has a standard 540 pto(just on and off). I've seen you can buy a different pto shaft which changes it to 1000. Just simply point downhill pop the clip out. Swap and done... 1000pto?

Can't be that easy?

Yes thats the way them older french built masseys are.

that simple splines on inside of shaft pick different gear up inside you can also get 1000 shaft with 6 splines on it

Massey breaker do you have any 1000 shafts lay about or should I get new?

Just be wary if it hasn't been changed before the fearing could fall apart. Happen us with a 6180.

is this the very outer bearing? Im considering replacing that and the seal behind because there is a little oil sat there all the time

Think. It was the inner. Shaft had a little movement up and down. We changed it regularly but that happen. In the first few years. Apparently easy to fix but as it was grass time I had to send to mechanic. Possibly in thought top link bracket. Bill wasn't big for all new bearing and seal.

only problem is if you get a bit of bearing fall down inside you transmission....eek. I might removed the cover around the shaft the first time i do it.

do you think it was that inner roller beaing? No1.

could be i never seen it. it supported the back os the pto shaft

If it's like the 6100 series tractors your supposed to screw in two studs where two of the 4 bolts currently are to hold the "innards" in place - otherwise your gears fall out of place... Then you have to take the tranny and diff apart or get really good with fishing things back into place. This procedure should be in your owner's manual....
