Hi what is the length (eye to eye) of massey 6465 original cab shocks, i have some valtra ones with springs fitted, but i think that they are too soft and maybe too short , as the ride is very uncomfortable. Feels like shocks are bottoming out and bouncing back up very fast

The original shocks have a really long range of operation, I swapped one for one off a car which was almost identical in appearance but it was rough as hell as it’s range was not the same and it was bottoming out.

Oil had gone from mine so one side was soft i have to get a new one in the end over £100 sadly.. but worth doing as bags on mine are still ok.

Someone has the link for new ones from truck suppliers with springs can’t remeber who though, under £100 per side just Google 6400 spring should come up

Picture of the current setup, as you can see not much room for travel under the bump stop? Probably 15mm...

I can tell you what the measurements are for the genuine massey ones that fit 5480 and 56/57 series which is what most massey dealers sell to replace them.. They are 400mm hole to hole and on a 6480 fitted they were 370mm fitted. Does anyone know what a cb0200 are between holes.

Not of the top of my head but i have fitted them, i imagine slightly more as i think it sits higher than the old tractor on genuine springs

I may have found some specs for cb0200
380mm between holes and i guess 329mm fully compressed

Where did you find those specs? When I say the genuine ones are 380 fitted I don’t suppose that is fully compressed so in comparison uncompressed their isn’t much it it. The genuine ones are £300 each whereas the cb ones are around £80. The cab weighs around 1t and the cb0200 are rated to 3500kgs so plenty man enough.

That was ebay listing, but pictures did not work, so wasnt sure. I did some cross referencing (MAN part numbers) and found out 384mm open and 325mm closed. Google cb0200 lenger.

The ones fitted now on the tractor, are like 290 fitted and the mounting bolts are 16mm

I used the Monroe CB0197 rather than the 200. I’m pretty sure that’s what Ned Murphy tractors supply too. The 197’s are slightly shorter and have less coils in the springs and the spring thickness is also slightly less, to be honest these are stiff enough. My air was still working and when blown into the high position these literally just bolted straight in. They probably sit half way between low and high air position.

See to me looking a the picture, the CB0198 looks more like the massey spec one and will take 2500kgs so probably wouldn’t be as stiff a ride but I need to find out somewhere the measurements between the holes.

When I got the 197’s I managed to find a spec sheet on the monroe website with all the dimensions for every one they sell. Although I couldn’t find it quickly this morning. If I find it later I’ll post the link up.

Thanks that may help. The genuine ones from massey are made by Sachs but the massey part number on it doesn’t tie up with anything on Sachs website.
