Massey Ferguson 135 - HTD 976F

Hi

I apologise in advance if this post is in the wrong section or isn't allowed. I was just wondering if I could ask for your help?

I am trying to trace a Massey Ferguson 135 (HTD 976F) that my Grandfather purchased new in 1968. It was part exchanged in 1978 with a local machinery dealer and I believe it was possibly sold on to another local farmer in or around Elswick, Lancashire in 1978. Unfortunately, that is the limit of my knowledge at present. I have already communicated with the DVLA and unfortunately because of data protection laws they were unable to help.

I appreciate that it is like looking for a needle in a haystack (forgive the turn a phrase). I imagine it is either a 'scraper' tractor or rusting in a barn or hedge, but I would be grateful for any guidance you can offer in helping me track it down.

Thanks

Matthew

Is the local machinery dealer still going? They may have old records showing where it went might give you a trail to follow, or if you think you know where sold to perhaps contact them you never know your luck!

Hi

Thanks for your replies. I had seen it on the DVLA system as 'untaxed'. I'm just hoping it has remained on a farm since 1986. It could well have been exported, I hadn't really thought about that, although I've HPI'd it and there is no export marker (I suppose that's only any good if the then owners notified the DVLA or not).

The dealer is still going but as a different entity, I think its a family business that has been taken over and developed by other family members. I'll give it a go, I suppose I've got nothing to lose. I'm just wary about exhausting all my options too soon (I don't want to have to give up too quickly). I might use it as a plan 'B'.

Thanks again

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I'll try and get in contact with him as I am local and I suppose there is a chance he may have seen it if it did stay local.

Thanks again

Hi

Just in case anyone is interested and in part to refresh the thread I thought I would post an update. Unfortunately, as you can have probably guessed I haven't found it yet, I've had a few 'false starts' but I'm still enthusiastic.

Just re-reading my original post I omitted to add that it had a Duncan Cab (I appreciate that this won't really increase the chances of finding it.)

Thanks

Matthew

Hi

I apologise in advance to keep posting on here. Unfortunately I've not got any further in my search. I was just hoping anybody new may read the post and it could jog a memory or if anyone has any further ideas on how to progress the search?

Thanks

Matthew

Hi

I'm just refreshing this thread in the hope that new readers might recognise any details. I'm fairly confident that it was sold on in this area of Preston but I'm not 100% sure where.

Thanks for looking
