MASSEY FERGUSON 135/ MF20 INDUSTRIAL FULL RESTORATION

so we were struggling to get some rubber to go between the windscreen ( which can hinge open ) and the cab to prevent vibration and also to create a bit of a seal from the elements . i tried loads of places but no one had anything to suit so i resorted to a waterproof strip for around car doors and cutting the actual " squishy " bit off and bonding that to the back of the windscreen frame itself , it worked out ok but i didn't get a chance to try it on the tractor because some numpty ( ME ) managed to put the hinge part of the frame on backwards when the frame was being assembled so i had to rip that apart last thing and re-do it so no pictures of it on the tractor because the windscreen sealer has to set !!!!!

Looking good
Im not criticiseing at all for the door seal you could use self adhesive foam strip its 1" wide and 6mm thick the previous duncan cabs we did had this it won't wear through the paint either
Also the link arm 1 points up one points down
Are they both the same side perhaps
Fantastic job i know exactly what your going through it all get very much the same
For mf to knock 200 tractors out aday must of been some effort back then.
Keep up the good work

The end is near

hi ya , thanks for all your comments they do mean a lot especially coming from a professional restorer like yourself , yeah im trying to get some of that " foam " draught excluder stuff , unfortunately its not available from Duncan anymore but i will keep trying ,
the problem is here in Ireland no one really cares or wants to put the time or effort into old stuff anymore , they will most likely say " throw it away and get a new one " mostly because they cant be arsed to take the time to look for anything for you !!!!

you are totally correct about the lift arms , unfortunately the owner ordered them overseas and we didnt deck it until they were painted and fitted , he knows about it and may rectify the mistake in the future ,
despite the finish we are trying to achieve she will be a working tractor and he will most likely just level any implement using the leveling box until he gets around to changing it out .

Massey had a great workforce to bang out such quality in such a quantity every day , unfortunately as you know only too well the quality of aftermarket parts is not up to scratch now a days unless you are really lucky to track down NOS stuff which is getting thin on the ground .

anyway thanks for you comments and keep watching cos she will be finished soon ...
