Massey Ferguson 35 Tipping pipe

Hi,
I have a 1959 MF 35 that I have owned for years. I have only used it for topping so only used the PTO and hydraulic arms. I was looking around at other machinery which require hydraulic power and was considering fitting a diverter valve, replacing the blanking plate to achieve this. The tractor has a hydraulic pipe attached to the left hand side (I believe it's called a tipping pipe for a tipping trailer?) I have no clue how this works or how you would even use it, as the only way I could think of, would be lifting the link arms with an implement connected to it? I have attached pictures of the hydraulic line in question. I'm sure somebody on here can explain. Any knowledge would help.
Thanks

As above, using the tipping pipe connection will result in the link arms going up & down. The correct approach was to use a T Bar Hitch which locks the arms in the up position, often folk would just rope or chain the arms in position which could have interesting results.

If you fit a diverter valve, be aware that you can't operate the link arms whilst the valve is set to operate the spools. If you need double acting spools then there is https://www.agrilineproducts.com/massey-ferguson-hydraulic-spool-valve-assembly-4520, but if I recall correctly the levers are in the way as they sit just in front of the seat. On my 135 I have a basic diverter valve feeding a separate spool block with the return feed going to the port on the top cover on the back end.

Connect a hyd pipe from a trailer etc to the "tipping pipe" and the draft lever (square topped lever beside the round topped lift arm lever) will operate the trailer ram/hyd attachment. Pull up to pump/tip, push down to lower.

Simples.

Hi,
Thank you all for your replies. It all makes sense now and I might not need to fit a diverter knowing how it works. I shall try it out when the engine is up and running again. The hydraulics are fairly strong and work fine so I'd imagine there will be no problems.
Thanks again

You only need a diverter valve if you want to get an oil flow with the arms down, hope that makes sense
