Massey Ferguson 590 PTO spinning

Hi , I have a Massey 590 what pto shaft spins when out of gear. Done a over haul of all the shims , break unit and hydraulic pumps but still have the same issue . Any ideas ?

If you have a new PTO clutch casing and new brake finger and the low pressure oil system is up to pressure, it could just be that the brake pad, which used to be a bronze square on the front of the finger, needs running in to maximise the surface area in contact with the drum shape it brakes.

Bloody awful design of PTO system, even of its day.

The same system was also used in the MFs 168 and 188s not good .

Now Then...
As mentioned, it's an awful design..
Even if the brake pad looks good it was better if replaced.. They often used to rotate when the oil was cold and usually OK when warm....
