I'm asking for your opinion on these two tractors. Are these two models reliable? It is the later looking 6480 built between 2008 and 2012.

Had an 07 t3 6480 for 10 years with perkins engine and never gave any bother tbh biggest thing that needed done were brakes but that was down to lack of trailer brakes so not the tractors fault. Got about 8000 hours on now

Diff tractors mind for poss diff jobs
earlier 8220 will have heavier lift without looking up brochure & non common rail engine. less features in cab like electric throttle presets & poss dynashift over dyna-6
suspension will be limited to front axle if its even got it on a 8220 where as 6480 poss has both.
You are comparing two quite diff tractors to be honest from diff farming era's also

Thank you it is good to know that the 6480 is reliable.

An 8220 will have a Sisu non electronic engine, and either a sluggish 18speed Funk powershift (not a dyna6) - ok for field work, but not great on a cart tractor. Quite heavy for 155hp but capable enough.

Later 6480 will be tier3 Perkins, unless it's one of the last which were Sisu.
Good engines, need injectors every 4000hrs ish which aren't cheap. Dyna 6 synchros not the best. More nimble, versatile tractors though. Likely to be double the money of an 8220.

Nothing wrong with either both good tractors what's the spec on them and what kind of work are you wanting it for?

Local spannerman saying that there are few Dyna6 third gear problems starting to manifest in bigger 64 series, especially 50k ones.
Just telling what I was told, all makes have their issues.

Personally id go for 8220. The powershift didnt get good reviews when new but it would be betr than a dyna6

It would be for pulling dump trailers.

I'm from Spain, a MF lover. Both tractor are absolutely nice machines. I have a 6280 and recently a have had two troubles. Maybe you can help me.
The first one is that I can not change from hair to tortoise hitting the lever. ¿Maybe the switch? ¿How to know it? ¿Whay has may tractor the other switch right up

Dyna shift for the work you're doing.i have a 8260 power shift and like it for field work .but if doing any road work Dynashift would be my choice.

8220 has the phaser engine big heavy tractor under powered same engine in the 6480 but about a tonne and a half lighter depends what you want the tractor for ?

the switch that changes for high to low in the photo is disconnected so it wont work ! there is a arm inside the box that hits the end of the switch but the switch slowly wears a groove in the arm.
get a asssistant to unscrew the switch and put his finger over the hole then press the end of the switch and see if it works . let us know what happens

MF 6480 are a good bullet proof tractor we have a 10 plate one I may sell if the price is right , top spec with air brakes

I have never said a bad word against a 2000, 2005 ,62 ,64 or 74 MF the newer ones are another story
