Matbro & Perkins

Problem with Matbro.
Tr250's Perkins leaks coolant from the right side of engine (injector pump side).
Coolant runs down side of block and over the oil filter. I can't see better without taking parts off.
To my knowledge there is some oil/coolant heat exhanger above, how and where it can leak?

Thanks

My Ts270hi torque weeps coolant, I'm pretty sure it comes from the thermostat housing as it's plastic and doesn't seal properly. just top it every now and then, sometimes it is dry. I did put a rad seal thing in though.

The cooler days a special seal between it and the head if it's what I think is on your engine
Sometimes the aluminium housing of the cooler can be eroded away
I'll take a picture of it tomorrow

There is a stubby little hose fits in the block then jubilee clipped to oil cooler bolted to side of the block clipIis down the back side of the cooler. Common to leak. You will want some gaskets and orings to reseal the cooler once you take it off.

Or do you mean the leak behind injector pump? Its common for thermostat housings to leak. And very common for the timing case to block gasket to leak on top left hand corner of engine right behind injector pump. Top left if engine was fitted in tractor not in reverse like matbro.

Is there any bits that don't leak?:scratchhead:

This sound more like it what I am having. Thanks
There is no leak around thermostat or injector pump but on the head level and in about half of the length of the engine.

Thanks again. It leaked from that small rubber fitting as said.

But another problem have appeared:

Perkins engine seems to leak diesel fuel into engine oil. After 20 hours of driving since oil change, oil level in the dipstick is 1,5 cm above maximum.

I have replaced the transfer pump and the glow plug when I did oil change.
Otherwise engine feels to run, start well.

What's the best to try to do next?

Seal on injector pump shaft will be the cause.

Ive got this problem with an old 236 in a fergi tractor, is a job for the fuel pump men or easy to do yourself? also is the crank pully nut left or right hand thread on them? cant get it to budge either way.

Not sure I think the pump may have to come apart? On the later delphi pumps the seal is fitted from inside the pump body I don't know about the earlier cav and lucas pumps?

I would expect crank pulley nut to be normal right hand thread.

Ive had 3/4 gun on it and it don't want to move either way, bit unsure about using the 1" on it without being sure of direction, cheers

thinking about it engine goes clock wise so could be left hand thread but then on the other hand I did an iveco front crank seal not long ago and that was a big nut and was definitely normal thread but it did have a massive locking tab washer.

Ask Leone75 he will know or one of the mf fans like multipower?
