At a rough guess yes you would be looking at more than 1k buy the time you bought the newer pump and separate valve, plus new pipes its going to be around that figure. Then plus your time routing all the pipes and fitting it, cleaning the hydraulic tanks out, new oil and filters etc.

Think I've asked this question before as well older pump with priority valve on the back. Our problem seems to be that something gets tired if used lots ie. when loading a lorry it will hardly lift the last few buckets but when going around feeding cattle as normal it works fine.
Is this a sign of a knackered pump or something else?

Probably is pump and the inlet valve body on the main spool block IMO. both should be changed at the same time and the tank cleaned out, if you never have issues with the steering and the brakes then the valve on the pump should be fine.
