McCormick mechanic

I have got a McCormick cx110 which I think needs a new charge pump because it loses alll drive, steering and brakes , have spoken to a mechanic but he seems as though he doesn’t want to do the repair, so I am looking for some one in Derbyshire who knows about these tractors , any recommendations would be welcome

Sounds about right. Think my 2005 CX 105 was about £3.5 K by main dealer. Apparently not straight forward as McC
must have been building them from the scrap parts bin about then. I believe its an easier job on later models. Best of luck.

Yes mine is a later model 2010 but one man I spoke to said it’s a big job , where he would have to split tractor, so it’s just a case of understanding what’s needed etc

They have a separate steering pump on the engine so more likely your running low on backend oil they have a silly level system on them that when tractor is running keeps oil higher in back of transmission than front there is a charge pump that can become weak and level at back not high enough to keep everything fed.

Chech the oil level on dipstick on backend run tractor for 5 mins then chech oil again it should have dropped down dipstick by about a 1cm.

Quick way to get round it is to over fill backend with oil and see if every thing keeps going then

Does everything work OK for the 1st 5 mins or so when you start it up from cold? If so yes it will probably be the charge pump failed which feeds the main pump.
Take the main filter off behind the l/H wheel and see if it's full of black plastic bits and white nylon strands, that will be the charge pump filter that has fallen off and got smashed up and killed the pump.
It's not a big job to do just fiddly you don't need to split it anywhere just take the 4wd drop box off and the MCV valve off the side. But go and buy a BIG bottle of patience before you start the job 🥴

Yes most of the time everything works , the tractor loses drive and steering only occasionally when going down a hill , could this be oil level and sometimes when you start it won’t move , would like to sort as I like the tractor a lot

I'd change the hydraulic oil filter behind the L/H rear wheel and the one on the R/H side of the engine (if it has one) first and check that the oil level is on the max 1st thing in the morning before starting and the see if its any better to start with.

Petition: Temporary Ban on agricultural use of sewage cake

In order to protect our land, we’re seeking a temporary ban of the agricultural use of sewage cake until better testing and treatment of waste can be proven. We call on all farmers after this harvest to refuse to accept any more until things change.

Some research suggests that the contamination of land is far more serious than just heavy metal build ups. There is an increasing amount of micro plastics and forever chemicals appearing in sewage cake. We think testing for these when it leaves the processing plants isn’t adequate, and that processing needs to adapt to be able to remove these contaminants.
