McCormick tractors

Myself and a friend were really impressed with the Mccormick tractors down at Cereals today. Gone are the days of them being a bottom end machine. A proven FPT engine, ZF gearbox and really strong backend. Very well thought out throughout. The cab was much much better than you’d expect and layout was about as good as you could get on the market for operator ease. Everything was where you wanted it and or expected it to be. Very good build quality and a brilliant sprung front axle and cab.

Really great radiator and intercooler cleaning feature where they folded up and out for easy cleaning and blowing down. Yes residual values may be poor compared to some but very impressed overall. Certainly a brand where reliable machines could be achieved from tested and proven components. If I was in the market for a new tractor I’d certainly be demo’ing one and it would be a contender.

As a user of 2 McCormick’s I really like them. Simple tractor anyone can jump on and run. Comfy and quiet cabs. But recently it’s little niggles that’s cropping up and service is the biggest problem I have with them.

4 years warranty or 4 thousand hours apparently. I liked the fact they come with a chassis rail now. Makes them much stronger all round and heavily made.

The problem will be persuading the buyer to part with a lot more money for a McCormick when other premium brands aren't that far away on price
Peesoally I didn't much like the X7 cab inside
Bit claustrophobic and roofline bit low
Sorry excuse for a roof window too
Just my opinion so try it yourself don't rely on my judgement

IME proven and tested components is a long way from ensuring reliability (not specifically McCormick) and the cab lacks ergonomic compatibility for me.

Agree with you, 4 years ago had a price for 160 hp mcormick vario, 70 k was the price, f ing hell they doubled in price since the mtx,s or mc,s. It was one of the reasons i ended up buying a premium brand. Resale values are so much stronger.

and wish they were still making them
There must be a reason that McCorrmick now only sell about 200 tractors a year in the UK ,and John Deere sell some 4000 . Reliability?

I don't anyone who has a good word to say about running one. A friend of mine chopped in a knackered Maxxum for one a few years ago and desperately misses the reliability of his very unreliable Case.

I've got 3 McCormicks and have found them very reliable (all MC series)
Pity they stopped making them
Think the new x7 will probably be very reliable but price and what I mentioned previously put me off

We have a new McCormick agent in South Essex. It will be tough for them but they have offered a good service as independents. As long as the main company backs them up [agent] if problems arise or parts are needed I would guess they will be ok. The hardest battle will be pursuading affluent arable farmers away from the mainstream.

When they came out around here they were very good price for spec. tractors .
I liked the tractor but what a shed load of problems and issues they had then so had to go.
