McCormick XTX 215 transmission problems need help with code 5116

I have a customer here who is having transmission problems with his xtx. It is throwing codes 5105, 5106 and 5116. I have been able to find out info on the 5105 and 5106 codes. I don't work for a McCormick dealer and no dealers here know anything about them and don't even want to sell parts. I am hoping someone here can help me with the codes and what to maybe look for.

Don't know if this is of use or not?
The codes you mention aren't there though... Could you have read them wrong and missed a number on each?
BTW, there's some crap about a heater not working below each of the codes in the above chart. Ignore it!!

They were supplied by the customer. The tractor is 500 miles away and it seems I am the only one willing to look at it. I am trying to get an idea on what it could be.

5106 ps 2 frequency
5116 is not in any manuals
What is the fault he has when the code appears

Thread here may be relevant. First two codes are mentioned in post 21...

I did see that post before. That's where I found out about the 5105 and 5106 codes.

The controller is pektron controller and located behind the battery box right where it catches all the crap [emoji849].

Have u got steering, pto and lift arms etc working? If not its a hydraulic issue or maybe the drive damper?
I don't think those error codes will stop it moving but I think they will come up if you try to drive it and it doesn't move as it will think something is slipping if PS2 and PS4 don't see anything moving.
What transmission setup has it got? M, E or E+ (M has a Gearstick and mechanical spools, E is push button gears but mechanical spools, E+ is push button gears and electric spools).
If you have all the hydraulics working you probably need to put a gauge into the reg pressure line or fwd / rev and see what's going on there. [emoji106]

The controller area is clean and the tractor only has 1,100hr and it an E+. The pto works, lift arms are jerky, brakes go to the floor. The spool valves work. The pressure gauges read and change when the hears are shifted. They only had 300psi gauges so it was pegging them when the clutches were engaged. Getting more info when talking to them about this. They have owned it for 5 years and has been broke for 4. Also one of their friends has rebuilt the transmission. Was not informed of that originally. That could make this more interesting.

No wonder he can‘t get anyone to look at it 😢

Not sure of your location, but the transmission in these tractors are soft to say the least, shame really as the rest of it is a damed good tractor. We have a 165 in work and its had 2 major rebuilds in 10k hours, but its been worked hard, now semi retired on bowser duties.

I cant really help you much with the issues, but they were never hugely popular in the UK and unfortunately few people with the knowledge to repair them. As others have said @McCman is the resident expert

Best of luck with it

Sounds fun ! for a simple test stick a flowmeter in the spools and set it in constant pump with no load on it, then go through every gear forwards and reverse, if there is a pressure problem on any of the clutches it will show on the flow. It will dip and not return till you move out of that gear, if that gear is ok the needle will just 'bounce' as you select the gear then you can test the individual clutches if needed after.

Maybe the tractor is not selecting a mechanical range on the SRS valve on the R/H side of the transmission. You can take a plate off on the valve and watch to see if the fingers are moving the selectors with it running. but you should also see the range gear change on the dash if its working.

Did it drive after the transmission rebuild ?
Does it drive in 4wd ?
I wonder if the connecting coupler to the pinion shaft has come off or the diff pins broken

I have a 2009 TTX 210 that was throwing code 304 on the IC, had to haul it 250 miles to a different dealer because the one 20 miles from me didn't have a diagnostic computer. Turned out the TCM was shot. Guess what McCormick doesn't make anymore. This model is only 10 years out of production, and the transmission controller is obsolete without replacement.

I believe my issues stemmed from my alternator going out, it cranked out enough amps to melt the output wire. I don't think I would dive into that as an independent mechanic, you can't get a diagnostic tool. Mechanically those transmissions are pretty tough, but the electrical gremlins are beyond anything I have ever seen.
