I think I might try taking the lifters off. One way not too bad but the other way in every field the lifters just start dragging every few m

Have tracks and header as low as it will without bulldozing but unfortunately ground is far from dry
Across 7.7m header width it is a push where ground isn't dead level, just wondering if a wider header, but flexing in the middle and with an adjustable knife angle would do better

Anyone running this type of header?

How successful are they on flat laid corn?

Are lifters needed with them

How do people harvest laid corn on very wide 30'+ headers?
Friend has one very impressive bit of kit will shave it off laid flat and wet lots of different adjustments that can be made pitch the knife from cab also feeds combine really well a very good bit of kit

We are running a Class convio Flex, we haven’t thankfully had a lot of flat crops but what we have had it has been brilliant at getting underneath them. It’s contour following ability is excellent . Massive improvement in stubble height uniformity and also feeds more evenly to the combine. So far very impressed with it

I have an old class Montana. The forward - rear tilt of the header can be adjusted on it. In flat crops I tend to turn the Montana off and just rely on the contour control. I change the tilt to keep the lifters under the crop but just high enough not to plough too much.

Do have to be vigilant and not eat too many flints though. Was a problem last year so far going well this year.

Plenty of demos by Collings Brothers around here. Lots of very impressed customers. Friend tried one on the 780 he drives and reckons a significant increase in output.

I am told that TH White have a demo McDon this year. I did see one being moved just south of Cirencester a few weeks ago.

That was coming here tomorrow to do some oats but logistics don’t work for us (still
In wheat) so had to cancel

They might have a spare couple of days demo now if you give them a call - it was heading north to Scotland I think
