Thinking of buying a high speed mchale wrapper for static wrapping. Running a TBER at the moment with Lupton power pack. Is the high speed worth the extra and will power pack fit and be powerful enough?
Ok thanks, wrap a lot of undersown straw at harvest so the lighter bales might be a problem then. Will see what the price difference is.I have the trailed version, it was 2 grand extra back in 2013, is it worth the extra, probably , it is quicker, but not as much as Mc Hale claim, The new orbital is quicker again. What i have found with the twin spool is, on misshaped drier crop bales, you can get the bale stuck on the rollers because of the pull on the twin spools, not a big problem but does happen sometimes.
If the wrapper is the same as a Fusion it will be crap on soft or miss shapened bales as unlke a 991 there are no belts to carry a Bale and any one running a Orbital will hate the farmer that phones and says I baled X amount of bales yesterday so could you wrap them today or bales that have been trailered rough or handled rough or last bales as any one that's ever driven a Fusion knows how much of a pain last bales are.Look at a orbital before going to twin speed it will be a far better machine.
I didn't think they did the hs2000 anymore but we have had four of them over the years and they are a top machineIf the wrapper is the same as a Fusion it will be crap on soft or miss shapened bales as unlke a 991 there are no belts to carry a Bale and any one running a Orbital will hate the farmer that phones and says I baled X amount of bales yesterday so could you wrap them today or bales that have been trailered rough or handled rough or last bales as any one that's ever driven a Fusion knows how much of a pain last bales are.
HS 2000 would be my choice over an Orbital every time!!!
Have you tried a different make of film?Is there any issues with the cutting mechanism on the high speed? The 991TBER sometimes can be a pest when it's hot weather with the plastic sticking to the wrapped bale or when on uneven ground. Thanks for the response.
Hi,Highland-man991 high speed here , fantastic wrapper! It uses slightly more wrap than an ordinary single spool wrapper but the speed difference is huge. When putting 6 layers on it does 4 bales every 2 min 10 secs if you are driving to the next bale while wrapping etc. Could probably push faster a little bit i keep rotation at about 33or so rpm to reduce the risk of flying bales should the turntable go too quickly and obviously if you only do 4 wraps then it's a lot faster again.
12 turns as a Fusion in stead of 24 with a single 750 mm dispenserHi,Highland-man
How many turns do you do for 6 layers of wrap on 991 high speed
Thanks Peter.
Thanks for that, that's what I do,why does it use more wrap it starts and finishes the same as a single dispenser12 turns as a Fusion in stead of 24 with a single 750 mm dispenser
I set ours on 11 turns for six layers, cos it will actually do 12,that is why its a bit wasteful on wrap. You cant really set it on 7 to do 4 layers, even tho that is 8 turns in reality cos you get 2 triangles of wrap when you start a bale rather than 1 meaning the bale isn't completely covered.Only other issue with ours is that on our old one the cut and tie mechanism would prevent bales going straight over the side if loading on a slight slope, the cut and tie is mounted lower on the hi speed so bales will easily go straight off the side! I did it several times before working out why it was happening, bit of a nuisance but you soon work round it.Other than that its a very fast machine. Thanks for that, that's what I do,why does it use more wrap it starts and finishes the same as a single dispenser

How many bales do you get when doing 6 layers highland man if you run it at 8/9 many is thatYep as the lads have said 12 for six but can set for 11 which does the same job.
It doesn't use a huge amount more wrap but just a slight amount. Just figured it was still worth pointing out though.
I get 22 bales at 6 layers,28/29 at 4 layers cos of what I said above.Best compromise I find is to use the MVF wrap which is 10% longer, that will do 24 bales/roll at 6 layers.Depending on the wrap at 6 wraps it's 24/25 to a roll doing 6 wraps and in the early thirties at 4. I forget the length of the rolls that we buy but one kind has a couple of bales per roll more than some.
we have got a mchale hi speed twin wrapper we never had any wrappers before but got the option to purchase this one it's a brilliant wrapper but is it normal for the front wrap to run out before the back one I always seem to have as much as will do another bale I'm currently set rpm at 29/30 and have wraps at 8 how is that soundingDepending on the wrap at 6 wraps it's 24/25 to a roll doing 6 wraps and in the early thirties at 4. I find they never run out together, can be up to a couple bales out.If one runs out consistently quicker than the other, there may be a problem with one of the pre stretch units. The
