McHale 991lber wrapper

We had to get another wrapper this year for reasons beyond our control the previous one was a 2005 build and when wrapping on continuous cycle it automatically kicked off every bale except if you had a film break or run out of film .

If you had a film break you tipped the bale off by pressing the start button again which was no big deal .

The brand new one kicks off every bale automatically which is fine till today when I had some bad rolls of plastic and the wrapper decided to play up for three rolls trying to kick the bales off over the side not over the back like it should.
Anyone know if it can be changed to stop after a break?

Nothing wrong with magnets as for 3 rolls of plastic it played up then the next 4 it went as should without touching it

It would be handy if it didn't tip off automatically like the old one so you get chance to sort it's position first if there's a problem

Press resume on the main console , should be a setting if you look through the menu for film break ,on or off. Will then re wind to break point .if it is not straight in line to start with and starts in a random place it will tip as you are saying also.

Is it on remote control? Have you double checked it’s on the correct program? IIRC you can set it on auto everything except tip if you wished. You would then need to tip each one with the control box and as mentioned check that film break is on

Did exactly the same using the console as the remote stopped 90 degrees off where it should be then started working fine for no reason again

Everything is as should be if the film break was switched off it wouldn't reverse itself it would just do the 24 turns and eject an unwrapped bale.

Always use the remote and it's on the correct program

Had similar fun!!!! as yourself, learnt every time either a new roll or break in film manually with remote re align then press resume never had a problem since

Ours was doing that from new last year as dealer set it up and left it with film break sensor off. Spent all last year rewinding the table back with the remote a couple of turns to start position when changing roll to prevent side tipping problem once you set it of going again.

Discovered the film break sensor on/off option in control box menu @peterfarmer! and @Goffer is talking about this year and it now stops when roll runs out and automatically rewinds a turn or two to correct start of position.

What ours doesn’t do currently is bring the hydraulic arm down on plastic when it tips and cuts. Doesn’t even shudder or pulse as if it’s attempting to do that. Cutting plastic fine without it but would like to know why it isn’t doing that. Anyone any ideas on that one?

On the old one it never missed a beat if it broke the film it just turned itself back you hooked the plastic back on press start on the remote and it sorted itself out from whatever position it started from which this one did fine to start with .
It must've been playing up the other day with the boss as well for a while which ended up breaking one of the plastic bobbins at the side of the bale

On pdi they obviously switch off the film break sensor to get it to run without a bale I soon got mine turned on when the first roll of wrap ran out!!
I've never had a problem with the arm not coming down so that's a strange one I'd check the simple stuff like wiring etc first

Did anyone ever get a solution to this problem? The software was updated on our control box so now if the film breaks it rewinds to allow you to fit a new roll, but then when it completes the cycle it tips the bale straight off, even if it’s in the wrong position

No we're still f**kin around with it . And getting sick of it !!

They re installed the software and it was still playing up every now and then.

So one wet day i took into the shed with a bake of straw to catch it doing it correctly and playing up on film to prove to McHale but I broke the plastic 15 times and it didn't do it wrong once !!!!!

We'll be wrapping next week so will see what it does then .

Glad to hear we’re not the only ones, I’ve wrapped 400 bales in the last couple of days so starting to get a touch frustrating!! It’s unsafe the way it works just now

I'd take a control box off an old machine any day !!

We've wrecked several plastic bobbins now with it tipping over the wrong side .

It's even more annoying for us as we were forced into getting a new 1 last year and the natural choice was a McHale as the previous one was an excellent machine
