Sounds stupid and if it's only moving slowly check if the hand throttle hasn't been knock forward an inch or two. Engine sounds like it is at idle but has enough get up and go to engage the transmission. Happened to me a couple of weeks ago.

Different pumps and setups. Post model and year.

What are the revs set at?

Stab in the dark the emergency mode switch is set to the right and not left. Will depend on what machine you have if it has and also where it will be.

As said, not my machine, only that it is an older model. Chap was very vague because he is not the driver but he had seen I had a Merlo and thought I might know. Which I dont.

If the pump is a rexroth it's the emergency (red switch) under dash LHS (above your left foot) or under panel behind seat on the right depending on year.

If pump is a sauer then it will need calibration with the sauer danfoss tool to adjust when the drive ecu applies the forward/reverse signal to the pump.

If all else fails it will be a mechanical adjustment of the pump

Check engine idle rpm - should be between 850-900 , machine will start to move at 1000 rpm.

Had to oil my throttle linkage , on top of the pump last week , because revs weren't returning to idle quick enough.
