I remember Bob Wellings on Nationwide testing them and then my best mate Steve's Mum bought one and we rode in one within a week

Those would have been exciting days..

My first experience probably wasn’t til about 10-12 years after they came out and they were in a state by then. The Renault 5 was a good car. The civic excellent..

We had a montego estate with that engine in, excellent practical car carry loads and really good with fuel for its day, no bloomin fancy electrics either

They were very very easy run for their time (particularly on cherry ) but also a real clunker of an engine to be fitted to a car.

All Sierra’s looked better in Sapphire version imo.

mk1 sieara was particularly ugly in standard form.mk2 was mutch better and I think you’re right sapphire was the best looking

Yes Dad had one . 5 of us 17yr olds borrowed it and drove down to southwest France in it on a camping holiday .I'm sure the whole inbetweeners seri3s was based loosely on the accounts of that trip !
