6.354.4 engine instead of 6.354.2 so a little more power. Much better drive shaft and aux pump pulley system between engine and clutch. Thats all i can think of atm.

I had both and the 1250 was an improvement for sure. Better drive shaft connection between engine and transmission and a different gearbox, I think the 1250 was synchro and 1200 not from memory. Both ate gearbox bits and always leaked oil from the drop box. I still have an MF parts book for the 1250 which must say something! It broke a shaft in the gearbox which was obsolete and to keep it going we had to put a 1200 box in it. They would pull well for the engine size though.

Hopefully not too off track, but has anybody any experience of the 1505?

My brother had one for a short while. He shoehorned a Merc V8 into it. Was a proper beast, he made a good job of it. Wonder if it’s still out there.
Cat 903 V8 that screamed at 2,800rpm. No liners, just pistons in a block. Drum brake underneath that I seem to think was the only one ! but surely it could only be a park brake, but the parts for it were from a Chevy truck. Was a couple of 1805’s around here too.

I always fancied a 1500 or 1505 but the thought of only a single transmission brake in Devon was enough to put me off. Has anyone on here used one and could tell us what they are like ? Wasn't there an 1800/1805 as well?

There was a later 4000 series some beast. Neighbour had one on something like 24 inch duals. I don’t think they ever came off even going down the road

Certainly a fairly nimble machine being an artic, and powerful for its time, but high revving to get the power. Brakes were realy for stopping the tractor only ! Donkeys years since I’ve been near one. Only the 1505 sold here, not the 1500 but there were a couple of 1805’s get to this country.

Cat 3208 10 litre bus engine. Two piston rings and no liners, strange engine a bit of a lightweight until it was fully marinised for rescue boats and it could put out about 600hp in short bursts and run 300 all day.
