Evening all,

Anyone know of where to get hold of a parts manual/list for our MF 500 drill? Have had a bit of a search on google, but no luck.

TIA :)
No idea about a parts book,

But I have a question about your drill?

Been looking at a few on eBay, (mf500, mf30 etc). With the idea they might work as a very cheap, entry level, into trying direct drilling ?

We have very light, coarse sand soils, not heavy clays..... would they stand a chance at drilling into stubbles and or cover crops ??

Cheers

Not sure about that one, but I would say yes, possibly. W

Parts for 500 drills are very hard to to get unlike the 30 . What parts are you after ?

Well, what I was hoping to do was to cross-reference the part numbers to the 30, to see which parts are common. At the moment I'm looking for things like the rubber boots at the top of the seed pipes, as well as discs and bearings etc.

Ours is set up for 20m tramlines (4m/5 bout cam), so I'm looking for a 3 bout tramlining cam - to suit our 12m tramlines as well. Are these the same as the 30? Does anyone have one for sale?

Good luck trying to get the rubber boots for the 500 the are rarer than hens teeth and are no longer available from Agco but the ones for a 30 can be made to fit with a bit of trimming . The tramlining cam is the same as the 30 and should be handy enough to get second hand . The discs are not the same as on a 30 and i believe the are very hard to source and once again no longer available new . There may be some other maker producing spurious discs . Is your machine a grain + fert or grain only ? Great drill to cover ground fast.

Not sure about the mf drills, but the old man used to put corn into sprayed off grass with a 4m bamlett. Disc Coulter's and it had a double acting ram to put them in rather than a ram to lift out and springs to put them in

Thanks for the reply. Ours is a grain & fert, but we have removed the partition and fert metering mechanism to turn it into grain only. I'll be on the lookout for a tramlining wheel, thanks. We upgraded from an old <3m 30, so it's a major step up!

Thats intresting, my 500 is a 3 metre g+ f and while i use the combi for winter drilling the ability to combine drill spring crops is where the 500 really comes into its own. I would have loved a 4 metre grain + fert but the are hard to find . I recently got my hands on a hitch to mount on the power harrow for towing the drill behind it . So thats the plan for this spring . There is a man in enniscorthy Co Wexford who sells new and second parts for Massey drills if you need anything. You will find his ad on DONE DEAL.

Fantastic - thanks for the heads up. I shall send him a message! We removed the partition so that we can get a full bag (~1t) of seed in. As a benefit, we now have a full set of meterering cups etc. as spares for the seed side.
