MF 6170 hydraulic leak

I recently discovered an oil leak underneath casing between engine and transmission. Thought it was the rear crankshaft seal or transmission shaft seal so split the tractor and replaced both seals. However, the leak is still there. It looks like it's hydraulic fluid. I then thought the steering orbitrol was leaking and hydraulic fluid was leaking into the flywheel casing between engine and transmission so I replaced the orbitrol but leak is still there. Don't know where it's coming from. Any ideas? I can send pictures of the exact location by mail.

There's several places it could be leaking from, if its coming out of the little drain hole in the bottom of the bell housing and its defiantly clean oil then its probably leaking past the clutch shaft seal, also the spacer plate in between the bell housing and transmission needs to be sealed to the transmission casing I have seen these come loose before, also check the plate underneath as people don't seal them up properly and then they leak

Thanks Michael, last time I split the tractor there was oil inside the bell housing, so it's most likely the shaft seal again even though I renewed only last year? I assume when there's oil inside the housing it won't be coming from between the spacer plate and transmission? When I just now loosened the bolts that hold the engine to the spacer plate there was also quite a bit more oil dripping out of the bell housing. Could I perhaps have done something wrong installing a new seal the first time? I've added some pictures. Perhaps that explains it a bit better. The red arrows indicating the leak path. Most of it underneath though, some coming from he starter motor opening. Thanks again

From where it looks like its coming out think it would either be the input shaft seal or there is an allen headed bolt screwed through gearbox front cover think ive seen oil leaking from there before should c where oil has been leaking down when tractor split . when you replaced the input shaft seal did you remove circlip and pull sleeve off shaft fit seal then slide sleeve back on shaft through seal so not to damage it

I replaced seal#57 in the picture attached but didn't remove the spacer. I just pulled the old seal out and refitted a new seal (lightly lubricated) and gently tapped it in place. It's in the exact same position but I've been told that you always have to push it in a little further (or shorter) then original?

It's not really black engine oil but more a dark brown coloured oil, transmission oil I think. However, it's a bit more darker then the oil I normally use for the transmission.

Looks to be coming from the bell housing then? When you say you replaced the input shaft seal, are you aware the seal runner itself is removable from shaft and sits on an o ring and two anti extrusion rings, were these changed also?

If its definitely transmission only other place it could leak internally into spacer housing is down a bolt hole or if the front cover is cracked somehow.

Thanks Michael, I only replaced the seal and wasn't aware that other components needed to be replaced together with the seal. How big a job is it to replace the other parts and is this something I could try myself or best to go to the Ferguson dealership?
