Mf 6s165 vs valtra n175

Valtra- logical controls, plenty of space. Quite airy. Reminded me strongly of a Fastrac cabin in some ways only Valtras have even more cabin space- because they are designed from the outset to work in reverse drive and it shows.

The engine is a peach and hydraulics are good. Just wish they would optimise the gearbox a bit more.
The N 175 I demoed was fecking gutless was pathetic plowing uphill

You’ve plenty of power on the road then no boost for field work when you want it

What models do you have?
Come on, even if he doesnt own 1 does that make his opinion any less relevant? How many times has it been said on here about buying a certain model to keep the driver happy or asking the drivers opinion when coming to change equipment? He may not be fortunate/unlucky enough to have his own fleet but doesnt mean his opinion is invalid about machines hes drove

Absolutely irrelevant, you can’t offer advice to someone buying a tractor because it looks nice in the brochure, theirs plenty on here with sound advice who have bought and run them

Guestion iš about back end 🤔 is ir realy capable with 4 tons driļl
Quick look at the tractor specs tells me that while it would lift it on paper you are going to be overloading the tractor going off brochure spec sheet - Maximum permissible weight is 11000kg, tractor weighs 6500kg, drill weighs 4000kg, allow 1500kg for front ballast and total is 12000kg. Could be asking for trouble long term by exceeding maximum tractor loads, T series would be a better prospect at 13500kg maximum permissible weight.

I’ve no experience of using the model in question in the field but now sell a rival brand and tractor loadings is something we would always look at to make sure you’re not going to cause yourself problems further down the road both legally and financially.

On a side note here when does ballasting a smaller frame tractor become too much ballast, I’ve got a Weaving Fenix dire to drill and 750kg on a Puma 150 is nowhere near enough.
Looking at this photo it looks like they need a fair weight

Boost on PTO,same as most manufacturers offering boosted hp,tends to be for road or PTO work.
Stupid question, so I'll be the one to ask it; can you access the boost by just engaging PTO, or does it need to sense a loading?

What’s wrong with the gearbox, I quite like mine

I found the semi-powershift version a bit difficult to use smoothly but that was probably more my failing than the tractor's. The direct is probably the kiddie to have. I'd love a go in an S or Q class.
My N is an active and I like its relative simplicity, I hear mixed opinions on the direct and in all honesty they look overly complicated for my needs.
I have an older MF dyna vt, that’s pretty simple too, which I bought in preference to a dyna 6 as it’s simpler to use, the newer ones seem overly complex for my needs.
I’m trying to find a sweet spot with a enough features to make them nice to drive without being overly complex, I like a tractor to be fairly intuitive to drive so that just about anyone with tractor driving experience can jump on and go without any lectures on how to use it even though I’m the main driver of them all.

To be fair, the Valtras I have driven were intuitive to use- they were all either later Actives or Versu. They are straight forward and laid out nicely. I couldn't get over the interior space in the cabin and what a nice place it was to spend the day. I think the gearbox was something that would definitely improve with experience.

I have not driven the earlier models though which I suspect aren't as logical or nice to operate.
