I maybe took the "new toy" thread off topic a bit so thought i'd ask here instead.
Would a 2013 MF7618 have these problems that @Cowabunga and @Farma Parma are discussing as in 3rd gear, front axle and 4wheel braking?
If 3rd gear has been fixed, is it an upgrade to what was originally fitted or just the same again?
What sort of ££ does it take to replace, if it does go?

There is no problem with the front axle. One person has had this issue and only one that I know of through this forum. The axle is heavy duty but can obviously be overloaded. Overloaded or not, sh!t occasionally happens to all things mechanical. The axle is made by Dana I think.
There is no issue with four wheel braking either. I and many others would prefer it if MF fitted brakes in the front axle, but they work well enough.

As for the range box in 50k tractors, I really cannot comment because I just don't know whether there have been any modifications since the 6400 series. MF are generally very good about modifying the design of parts found to be problematic in service, so one would hope that they have long sorted this potential issue. Not many have this problem, but it did seem more of an issue when long distances were covered at 50kph.
Even then only a small, but noticeable percentage of tractors in that category had that problem in service. Claas must have had the same issue exactly but I have not heard of it in their tractors, which must mean that its pretty rare really. I wouldn't worry about it.

All repairs are expensive. For all brands. Again I wouldn't worry about it because it probably will never happen to your tractor. These are easy enough to repair as tractors go these days, if it ever does happen, which it probably won't.

As always it is only the bad ones, poor service, breakdowns etc etc you hear about. If you look there is always horror stories about every make/model of machine, so unless its blatently obvious there is a major fault im of the opinion buy what you want/prefer but it does no harm to enquire about such fault rumours.

Wouldnt worry to much about the d6 box. Local mechanic told me £5500 wil buy u a part ex box from agco which is a fair bill but when ur comsiderin what ur gettin its not to bad compared to prices bein floated about for major tractor fixes nowadays

I'm sure that in general you could fix a D6 range box for a fraction of that. However, in both cases you would have labour to pay and possibly transport. Probably less labour cost with a service exchange unit of course.

It is not something that dealers tackle often by any means. There are plenty of high hour tractors out there that have never been touched. The vast majority.

Yes if its somethin small enough that breaks. But at least ye know if it does shtie itself completely its gonna be round that money and a good inde mechanic will have her split and built in short time which wont cost the earth. A customer of ours has a t7210 that has had somewhere around 16-18 k spent on it this spring all in tranny and clutch. Makes the part ex d6 look not to bad lol

Got one of these to go and look at, it has not got the datatronic? Screen/computer, but will it still have a headland management feature?
It's something i would want on the tractor and would stop me from buying if it hadn't got it.

Alwaysinit you must remember that there are various flavours of headland management and just because a tractor has it you may not want to use it when you see the nonsense you have to get up to to use it. I had a MF 2018 exclusive edition with headland management and I never used it and it had the datatronic screen but when I switched to JD it was a no brainer to setup and use. I guess what I’m saying is try before you buy or you may be disappointed.
