MF perkins common rail fuel problem?

My 6475 tier 3 with the perkins engine would suddenly stop, usually when turning up hill or jolting over rough plouged ground. My first thoughts was an eletrical fault, loose connection, bad earth. But not really knowing where to start checking the wiring, thought, think simple , get the filters changed. Did that , but the tractor will cut out again when turning up hill, not every time. Tank is 3/4 or more full. When priming the filters, noticed a weep of diesel from the priming pump on the filter housing. Has anyone had a problem with these primers? Seems a sealed unit thats part of the filter housing, so not repairable. Any thoughts and advice would be very appreciated, thanks John

Usually any fuel problems would come with error codes?
Try blowing back down suction line into tank, there is a gauze on the pick up in the tank.

I had a similar problem with a 5445. It was drawing air in the filter under the priming pump. I put a large o ring between the filter and the plastic bowl and it solved the problem.

Thanks for all your info, but on closer inspection, there is diesel leakage past the primer pump . So going to try this temp fix first and see. An old 500g grease cart is a tight fit!

That primer diaphram split and sucked in air

Was interesting going through town and loosing all hydraulics

Problem solved, it was drawing air through the primer pump. Just have to get one ready before the next filter change. Found the unit for £80 from someone who retails Perkins filters etc.
Once again , thanks for all the suggestions and help.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
