pto shaft on a friends mf won’t disengage. Think it’s a 290.
Lever goes into the side of the gearbox on the left just in front of the back axle. I’ve pulled the linkage off and the lever is travelling it’s full distance and turning the shaft etc. It’s clicking in and out as far as I can see but the shaft is still driving.
Is the clutch pack buggered?

Connect a pressure gauge to the small test port on the side cover near where the lever goes in. You are looking for around 17 bar engaged and nothing disengaged. That will at least tell you if the spool is moving although you say you can feel the detents so i guess it is. Its likely the plates have warped slightly and the brake pad is worn out but its strange you say it still drives disengaged yet turns with the engine stopped.

As above - that sounds like the PTO brake has been worn, so the clutch has been dragging without being properly engaged (probably for years).

At least it's easy to fix (once you have the cab up, tractor split, top cover off and hydraulic pump out of the way) :)

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
