Mf265 steering

My Massey 265 2wd steering has gone tight when steering one way and is still nice and light turning the other way.
I have checked fluid level and try to make sure it’s greased regularly. I am assuming it’s something to do with the power steering.
just looking for some pointers on what to check next and to locate the possible causes.

Sounds like the same problem that occurs on 100 series tractors with power steering. Have a look at the linkage repair kit under the power steering repair kit section. Its basically a turnbuckle linkage that operates the steering valve. If yours is worn on the pins and clevises, then it will operate the valve in one direction, but not the other. Get someone to move the steering whilst you watch the linkage moving, you will be able to see where the slack may be. You may be able to adjust the turnbuckle to improve things. There is also an adjustable tapered pin on the steering arm which may have worn creating more slack.

It does mostly there is some play in the steering.

It'll be above the front axle near the rad. May have to remove the front grille and some tinwork to see it properly.
