I am going to have a look at applying, but a lot depends on a) if I can access any capital grants and b) what % I can put down to things I will find useful ie legume fallows / grass margins / field corner removal. If I have to dick about with a load of stupid wild bird / aka weed mixes then I am not interested.

I'd happily grass 200ac down to traditional hay meadows and native breeeds but they dont seem to be after that now.

Decide what your business needs then see if there is a grant to help.
The latter sounds like subsidy farming called a different name?

It's called suckling at the subsidy teat. If that pays better than laying out all the dosh waiting for some decent British weather then bring me to the fee-money cow.
