Hi, people who have bought a dairy farm, how much did you buy the milk contract for roughly? I understand there's specs to it but after a rough guide thanks

You don''t normally buy a milk contract, but you are not automatically awarded one if the processor doesn't want to take you on. If the milk buyer is a farmer-owned co-operative rather than separately owned, then it may be a requirement that you buy shares. With regard to how much shares cost, how long is a piece of string?

you don't buy one, you either ask for and potentially get a direct supply contract of choice, or apply to join a coop and build up capital in line with milk supplied over time.

was there not some talk about 'buying' Arla contracts, if taking over the farm ? Or passing it on to the next generation.

wouldn't imagine there is any difficulties in obtaining a milk contract at the moment.

Think the arla loophole was abused and closed from what I heard, only recruiters around here are bottom end from what i hear, arla, muller etc not interested in recruiting, Lower payers have more pack up so create space to recruit

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
