@cornishfarmer didn't know if you are aware? It appears that trewithen have opened their recruitment books. I'm sure your business would be a good fit there and probably more appreciated. Just thought I'd throw that on the table for you (y)

Unfortunately Trewithen aren’t allowed anywhere near an Arla producer. I know several that have asked, including myself.

Arla would rather one of their owners had to stop production rather than supply someone else???? Madness!!!

Is Trewithen an old Arla plant under new ownership? Is that what stops them recruiting from Arla?

Respectfully suggest you guys hand your notice in at the appropriate time (as per contract) and seek an alternative buyer.

I'd approach Trewithen irrespective of what Arla think.

I've not regretted leaving Arla for a millisecond!

They wont make it easy for you though.......

Yes we’ve already left and not regretted it either. But rest assured Mr Clarke’s hands are tied when it comes too recruiting Arla farmers.

If that's the case, none of us should be supplying a Co,op that acts like this in a so called free market!!
If this is the bully boy tactics they are using to limit farmers choice to market, its disgraceful. Have the conversation and record it! Then expose them for what they are doing if this is the case.

@farmer on a bike could clarify the situation here I'd have thought with his position within Arla. Is this true or not??
And if it is true, under what legal standing is this exceptable behaviour ??

Would I have seen 38ppl in the winter with fm?

Starting to sound like an arable farmer, only ever talking about the one load he sold for £200/t!

Surely an annual average would be better? Anyone can pay a big price for a single month then take it back later. Not saying the FM price would be better on an average either though.

Would fm average 32ppl for the period March 2017 to March 2018?

It was for 3 months, not a load. Also rather talk about getting a good price and enjoying it, then drone on about getting 16ppl

Some people are glass half empty. Some are glass 3/4 full I guess.

Totally agree, and getting 32ppl over a calendar year is fantastic going, so no I doubt you would get that from FM. (I dont know, i dont know their contract)

Agree on being optimistic but as I said I speak to plenty of arable farmers who work on top price not average price then cant understand why they arent making money.

You'd be very surprised, they reward autumn milk and constituents very well

Although it means nothing without knowing production information, it might be that elsewhere the price achieved could have been 35ppl. Obviously not with FM though!

We had a contract on the table from a certain European PLC with our notice in for Oct 17, they wrongly recorded I was supplying meadow, I corrected them at the meeting I had a phone call the next day retracting the contract because “they aren’t currently recruiting (small milk broker milk buyer) farms”!! so in other words, my milk buyer was balancing for big euro plc with a gentleman’s agreement not to poach farms....the job stinks!

The difference paid within companies will be massive as much as between buyers ticking all the boxes is what is important. Arla are trying to save money on haulage in the long run to pay a higher milk price, seems sensible

Most of the complaints from tanker drivers, is the time it takes to unload at some dairy's, 2hrs isn't uncommon at one dairy near here.

How many drivers will take off the 3 to 2 inch adapter....and leave it behind? Maybe ever 2 inch farm should have an on farm one?
Lot of unhappy Arla producers round here, meeting last night got a bit heated......
Unhappy Arla farmers? You must be mistaken as one i have mentioned it i have been dismissed as being much mistaken by the Arla mafia.

Farmers Weekly running the news this weekend but saying 50% of your production up a maximum of 10,000lts per month! I am thinking they may have missed a 0 of the 10,000.

I think the 10000 is the unit size that can be locked in. So if you are producing 1000000 then you could lock in as little as 10000 or any multiple of 10000 up to 500000 ltrs.
