You'd think they would have had a better year this year with all the supermarket sales and milk being sold out in the spring. Worrying really, if they can't make the liquid job pay this year, when will they?

You misunderstand, it’s the supermarkets that have had a good year, not their suppliers. I can’t see them paying anymore for the stock just shifting more of it.

Very true but that isn’t helping the liquid sector, it’s a problem of the processors own making though is it not? They agree the deals desperately trying to undercut each other to ensure they retain market share.
The liquid sector is driven by the commodity prices as this drives it from the bottom up.
I would agree though that’s probably been the biggest issue with A brandless Liquid milk Sector as the majority of liquid milk is sold on own label.

2nd December they announced they had lost 76m

Cant see it being a new 1p

Unlike a public company, the Accounts of Muller are not open to scrutiny, as the whole business belongs solely to Herr Muller and he has never released his personal tax records. He has numerous separate operating entities including Dairy, haulage and even tinned Herring sales-all release individual "operational" accounts, but I doubt very many people know the true story.

But it seems odd to say the least that he keeps buying loss making businesses (DC, Wiseman) and is apparently content for them to continue to "lose" him money.

There must come a point though

Why?

No one gets to look at your private tax accounts, Herr Muller is a private individual
I think the point he was making was that if Muller are really making a loss every year why would they keep buying out other companies. Don’t know how deep their pockets are but there must come a point when they’re empty.
But as you say, we don’t get to see his accounts so we don’t know how much of a loss he is actually making.

I’d think it would be fair to assume he’s not likely to go broke anytime soon.

Maybe not but with the amount off losses published hes making a fair go of trying

You’re only seeing the accounts for one arm of his business though, big businesses can afford to pay clever accountants.

You’ve got to admit it’s a lot easier to pay a lower milk price to your suppliers if you’re seen to be losing money hand over fist.

Maybe I’m too cynical.
