Milk up 40k litres on last April and 65k compared with 2018. Crossbreeding definitely having an impact but I'm also running a few more cows and seeing the cake lorry more often than I'd like.
I always wonder where the sweet spot is between getting the most from grass and extra output from feeding more cake21k more milk pays for a lot of cake.

How are Roddas in Cornwall coping with the situation? Keeping up with Arla?
Are you using chlorine free chemicalsyes, and a hit on bs, we had trouble with b/s last year, spent £1000,s trying to get to the bottom of it, after trying every different chemical, swabbing, bacto breakdowns, etc, the result, by a paid professional 'perplexing', so it sort of sorted itself out, running around 40, not good, but not knowing the cause, ok. Now suddenly exploded again, big time. Found a pipe on the chemical washer, cracked and leaking, repaired, tank hand scrubbed, no change, but, might might have found a problem in the milk pipe, one side, so only going to milk 1 side, to see if it is the cause, problems are fine, if you know the answer, but this, is driving us mad.
That’s a new one for me!Are you using chlorine free chemicals
If we're over 0.0015 cl we get fined 5p/ litre for that month. Just wondering if it effects tbc or bs
They keep there cards close to their chest. Someone said arla was pumping milk into roddas and a farmer that supplies arla was picked up with a roddas tanker.
we have tried every chemical there is, we have found out, many 'same' products, have differing amounts of 'good stuff' in them, and we keep to the better ones, everything has been swabbed several times, nothing. We are in a hard water area, so a softener installed, on our own water supply, samples taken all along the line, from bore hole to parlour, great, but, to be sure, we meter chlorine into the water, at the dairy, x2 ultra violet sterilisers, airline very regularly washed out, if a high bs, everyday. Bulk tank, pretty new, all the automatic cleaners etc, been checked several times, again, if a higher bs, scrubbed out by hand as well, no split liners, all with no results, samples saying bad, experts saying no, chap who is meant to be the best, his verdict, perplexing, nearly 4k we paid them, for what ?Are you using chlorine free chemicals
