I can remember not many years ago a company bringing in milk powder from Poland mixing it back with water and selling it as fresh milk
Wile organic milk used to go through the tunnel into France and was brought back in from Belgium and Netherlands
the distribution, packaging and general skulduggery, that goes on in the food industry, is something best not broadcast.

article not long ago, showing Scottish scampi, being flown to Thailand, for processing/packaging, then being flown back, to the UK, for sale.

the reason, it was cheaper than doing it in the UK.

the guvs proposed cuts in foreign workers entering the UK, and to use unemployed instead, looks good on paper. But people here, except farmers, wouldn't compete on price, nor would they consider working for the wages those 'foreigners' do, in their own countries.

therefore the policy is buggered from its inception, the whole equation about work and migrants, is l think, unsolvable, until schools teach kids, manual work is not 'terrible', and they cannot all go to uni, and end up with a cushy office job.

all politicians want cheap food, the cheaper the better,

but its a hell of a gamble they are taking, hungry voters only have one thing in mind, food, and politicians that don't supply it .................................

the world is not in a good place, its generally in a mess, and needs a restart. Its what triggers that restart, that's truly frightening.
Tell it to Mogg. I know it and you know it. Everyone with more than a single business braincell knows it. Some people who have been voted into power, just don’t. The standard of politicians generally in the UK is appallingly low. Just be thankful they are not quite as disingenuous as US politicians, but the UK does seem to be catching up.

But that fresh milk is not whole milk more it is skimmed or semi skimmed which then leaves the cream element as a tradable product which unfortunately the price of which will follow world markets which still leaves us open to the influences of those markets.
true
that's why white water was wanted, pretty well straight into the bottle, not much messing around with cream etc.

now, solids are wanted.

If the day comes when there are hungry voters you can bet your bottom dollar those politicians will be pointing the blame in anyones direction bar their own, most likely those pesky farmers for not producing enough

I don't know, but the poster who mentioned a price of 46ppl will have pretty high constituents, so wont be far away from what he'd be getting in the UK on the correct contract.
auctioneer told me yesterday, 45ppl by the spring.

and l haven't seen a pig fly by my window.

so 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
I was under the impression most if not all major liquid milk processors separated out the butterfat then added it back in to the required percentage
now it has a value, not so many years ago, white water.

in quota days, white water was a blessing, more litres.

bugger wouldn't give them to me ............................

no idea if he's right or wrong, but l prefer positive talk, to negative.

and things are moving in the right direction, albeit very slowly.

next crisis, spring milk ! or so some would have us believe.

I prefer it realistic talk

The auctioneer has something to gain, by telling people 45ppl, they may well buy an extra cow...

lot of cows on the mkt, just not advertised, anything decent, strong money, and barrener's have come down 67p/kg. Holding onto ours, in the hope it rises in the new year, even dried some off, to fatten, new for us.

to be fair, he isn't usually to far out on prediction.

as farmers start to look at the cost of slurry storage, reckon there will be more cows on the mkt.

Your final sentence is one that sends shivers up people backs as the environment agency are starting to get keen about anything slurry
