Futures not looking so hot now. Be surprised if there is any further movement this side of late summer.

Meanwhile straw prices rocket upwards with +£25/t in the last month to reach £115/t … and will go higher yet

Futures maybe but actual sold prices are what matters and they are fairly stable at the moment butter has dropped £100tn mild cheddar has gone up slightly by £50tn.

hopefully demand will pick up slightly and that seesaw will be on the demand driven side

Dunno… our Leprino letter said that U.K. demand was at best static and it was world demand that allowed them to give us a price rise

Milk tracks oil IMO and that is easing upwards

And Futures have gained a fair percent of what they lost last week in the first three days off this week.

Friend has sudden health problems and can't keep running their dairy. Milking 260. They put new rotary parlour in about 5 years ago. Complicated inheritance issues so can't sell, not for the next 10 years. Local old boy stepped in and took over running for time being to help out, but they need a plan going forward. They won't ever be able to take it back on themselves.
What options do they have - do you reckon anyone would lease (even for a small amount) an operational dairy?
