Got one in on hire now, how close to ambient temperature do people cool down each batch, I usually go down very close but I do have cooling towers in the store....
Cool to grain temp of around 25C off drier and then put in store and continue cooling with pedestals.
Cooling to ambient air temp in the drier seriously reduces output.
Cooling to a difference of less than 10 degrees C from ambient is too slow and inefficient. We tend to empty the batch as long as it’s below 30 degrees. Can set our Mecmar to stop cooling when it gets within (for example) 10 degrees of the ambient air
It down to capacity and your instore cooling capacity I happy discharge at 20 above with good cooling.
I go to about go to about 6-7C above ambient but I am not worried about output as I have far to much capacity 25t batch dryer on small area and combine
It depends on how dry it is when the burner goes off, if we have *ahem* over dried it a bit we will take it off at anything less than 30°C (we have pedestals and fans with ambient temperature switches)
If we get it right we will allow it to cool a bit more.
Mine is set to cool for 40 minutes which also takes a bit more moisture out. I also cool it in store. It's not easy getting it very cool if drying at harvest time anyway as the air temp is too high
