Five loads gone out today off the same heap, average moisture 14.45%, last load 15.2% (included in the average) subject to a claim. Worth arguing the toss about or pay up and forget it??

How did you guess that!!!!
I know of two people who’ve had clams on moisture, one of whom runs his own commercial grain storage. He had a load that was been moved by openfield and got diverted to Manchester so frontier wouldn’t have known it was coming from him. They said the moisture was near 16%, of corse he demanded an independent test! Two weeks later they said the moisture was fine and there would be no penalties. However they refused to show him any test results!!!!

Ps. he also works for the NFU so is looking at how many others are getting claims from Frontier/Manchester on moisture and seeing whether to get trading standards involved if it’s happening to enough people.

A phone call will be made first thing tomorrow. Will post the outcome. Thanks guys.
If your confident the moisture is ok demand an independent test, I’ll bet it will come back as ok as they won’t even send it away! It’s getting to be a common theme with Manchester at the moment, they must think farmers don’t talk to each other

If it’s all on one contract at Manchester through frontier then you will be notified of claims on a particular load, but averaging will trigger a repayment of the claim once the contract has been fulfilled.

I know the person well ;)
No good picking on the wrong ones especially when they dry grain with biomass and get a RHI incentive which means it pays them to overdry

mid you don’t challenge these claims you will get a name for being a soft touch.
