A good friend of mine in Northumberland mentioned to me the other day about his retirement plan.
Sheep income heading south, so he's taken a look at trees that return the ground to usable condition after a comparatively short growing life. He'd discounted Christmas trees as being over-done and marginal returns but is very tempted to grow specimen trees (say to 6m high) that would be mechanical spade dug with the rootball.
Some of the gross income figures were quite large per acre
Does anyone have any experience of this? What are the critical factors?
Thanks in advance
