Money, no object.

There was a guy a few miles from me, sold this farm for building, they have built on most of it, a school the lot, he moved through to Dundee way, some told me he was living the farming dream, what would you guys do if that happened to you.

I bet most farmers would just spend it on more farming!

I would travel more and spend more time with my kids I think while they are still young, I would not retire but I would employ more people to do a lot of the stuff I have to leaving me to only do what I want to!

I wouldn't move house but would maybe buy somewhere in a nice hot country to spend winters, I would shoot more, own a few more cars, maybe a helicopter and other pointless trinkets that apparently make us happy

Buy a decent farm (1,000 ac) with some decent soil instead of the rubbish we have here, get someone else to do all the work as getting too old to do it all and then with inordinate amount of spare time on my hands, go to every ploughing match I could, would also be able to host matches which would be nice.
But the rest I would spend outside of agg

Buy more land that bourders ours, more sheds, more concrete and invest the rest in non farming activities and goods so farming then becomes a very enjoyable and easy activity subsidised by these investments. The majority of farmers I no complain about not making money then spend all the building money on more farming and are just in a bigger mess than before by the time they finish!

I think it would be nice to dig a few wells in a third world county, or something like that. Would take some thinking about. Takes a LOT of money for it to be no object.
I think I wouldn't be buying work to remain a cog in a hamster wheel; if the farm cannot sustain itself, it is not worth your time.
Go and spend the summer sitting on a tractor for somebody else, and not have the 24/7/365 responsibility of being a one man band...
Then a nice place with a warm winter climate, and about 4 acres of lake perhaps.
Make sure there is a farm in case any of the grandchildren want it one day..

I know a chap who had some money come in and he put it into 450 acres of extra land and a 250,000 chicken unit :scratchhead:?‍♂️ as well as updating a lot of his equipment. Don't think there is much left now.
Personally I would't invest any building money into any kind of agriculture. There is no long term future of this industry in this country presently whether brexit happens or not.

Set up some kind of organisation to help people reconnect with agriculture, grow and sell more local produce, get more people on the land, rebuild rural communities etc. I already have contacts in further education who want to roll this out, but the question is how to do it without losing control of my own business and land etc, which I am very wary of. So i would keep farming here as I am, as I am an independent bloke, but would invest in land and a farm that could be run on communal lines and splinter off starter businesses. Would it work. Don't know, but it would be an interesting experiment.

we get pestered by developers all the time, but Im just not interested, I like it here, have lots of things still to do and I know very well that sometimes money brings more unhappiness than happiness.

However if I won the euro millions I would spend it on fast women and skiing then waste the rest :woot::ROFLMAO:
