monkey metal mowers...

No just weld the straight part of the tine on. With the tine layed flat covering the allen key hole a few tacks either side should be enough to hold it then leave to cool. The tine will then act like a spanner and a quick tap with the hammer on the end should undo them. Old grub screws or worn down/rounded off bolt heads aren't too easy to undo but this trick works very well I've found.

Ok ta, I'll give it a go.

Sorry, can't remember now. I took the tractor output flow, allowed a bit spare, and divided by the rpm needed to give me cc per rev. The motor will outlive the mower, but both went at at auction 9 months ago

Was the tractor OK with it , could you happily cut away most of the day without the pump being under pressure from over work

I had a new Samasz 7 ft drum mower in 2007 for £1700, looked a good buy...only lasted 120 acres, main shaft that drives the drums snaped!!(2008),when taken to bits looked like it had been in a hedge for 20 years!! was also rust of it in all the bearrings, Dealer stopped selling them, to many problems with them!.....

Just to play Devil’s advocate... it sounds as if you hadn’t greased it?

Not designed to be opened and greased very often if it is like the pz . Skirt would have to come off and a lot of bolts to remove to get the lid off.
You check through the vent. It says that in your operator's manual. They are filled with liquid grease type stuff.

They weren't designed to be greased, and the originals never needed it.
Yes they were. Do you think Fahr KM22s ran dry?

What so you are ment to strip a new mower down and grease it?,its in an oil bath, all bearings are none greaseable. The PZ 165 is packed with grease. No the forging of the main shafts are shite.
Calm down :) I was only questioning the lack of maintenance, that's all. Nothing needs to be 'stripped down', you check and fill through the vent hole like it says in the manual. It took me all of 30 seconds to find an operator's manual on google.

Surely you'd check the oil on a new tractor before you set off? So why not a mower, or any other machine? If not daily, then weekly, monthly, before the start of the season etc.?

NOTE: I don't sell Samasz, so I have no reason to defend them. I just like a fair, balanced discussion (y)
