You do have it - just you hsvent got your mobile enabled to access it - it would be part of your contract and an add on i.e. 4G enabled. It's now pretty broadly available in this area. Same applies to the OP I would guess as he's in Bedfordshire,

what would be the earliest you would expect to tell any change / relaxation of the ligaments, only a handful of cows calved first time last year i kept touching them and got the hang of it but seam to have forgotten time scale
Same as any mammal labour time can vary, that's why I like to feel regularly if possible as you can then get a perception of the slackening speed of change. Some the first time you notice a drop can be 4/5 hours off but normally 10/14. Its the second time you feel them say a few hours later you can normally pin point. I mainly have blue and blonde x cows, so little hair, anything that looks like calving within a fortnight is in a open shed very visible, you can get to being accurate by just glancing over the crash barriers and doing it by eye. What I really do like though and said earlier, is you get an isolated one slacken/ tighten, really is always a big lump that follows, so if that happens they are induced straight away and saves a lot of hassle

Wouldn't that require a 4g camera, so I can dial in from home to view?

Well, your area is covered, so just a question of checking with your internet/cell provider - you may need to pay extra although there are some ace deals about and your down/upload speeds will increase dramatically,

Just about to take out the EE64gb sim as an alternative to BT, which is pants here as we're on the worst exchange in Somerset. Bar none (their admission, by the way).

Yes, you'll need a system you can use either via the imternet or via your smartphone. Latter will be more expensive but still cheaper than losing calves or Moocalls dropping off or not receiving the texts (main problem we had). That sai, the CCTV system does mean you have to wake up to check through the night it's without doubt more effort than relying on the Moocall.

what I meant was she can get 4g on her phone but not here and not lots of places
Had a PM with JP about this and he now knows what I meant by you can't watch it anywhere

Hi All,

I am one of the management team here at Moocall, this thread came to my attention so I thought I would just drop in with a comment.

We have a clear policy in the company which is to try and work with customers to ensure that they are happy with their purchase. We have a really committed customer service team in here, who will do their best to ensure that you get whatever you need to be successful using the calving sensor.

We have a number of straps, with different levels of 'hardness'. The reason for these different straps is that we were trying to prevent people from going too tight - we've solved that problem through softer straps and better communication but at the same time created a different problem which is that on some tails it can slip. The reason we didn't send out new straps to all customers is that there wasn't actually a problem with the strap for the vast majority of users. We are committed to improving the product over time, both from a software point of view (eg. currently testing an 'off-tail' alert) and from a hardware point of view (eg. have a third version of the strap on order to see if we can find a happy medium).

So I would urge you, if you are having any difficulties at all (or know of anyone who is) - please get in touch with our team here on 02036271126. We can certainly help, whether through talking through the issue or trying a different strap, it is rare that someone who we are dealing with directly doesn't end up happy with the device.

Hope that helps!

Moocall

I bought my moocall last week, put it on a heifer Wednesday, got a text 5am this morning, calf was born (with a bit of assistance) at 6am. Really pleased and no issues with falling off etc although it did get somewhat poopy! We try and never miss a calving anyway but it has put paid to the 10pm 2am 4am 'wake up, stagger to truck and up to the yard in pjs half asleep to shine a torch on increasingly bewildered cows' routine hopefully.

they are not the be all and end all but they are far cheaper than anything else I have seen on the market, other things will get cheaper and better though
just another string to your bow for now till something else comes along
we have had no problems with our ped blues with them but then we don't use bloody useless spot on, which is a waste of money IMHO
I have not noticed them scratching any more than anything else

In not to long I should think their will be something that will tell you what every one of your cows are up to every min of the day

Spot on there regarding the Spot On;)
Far as I can see it's no better than water!
Threw a dusting of builders lime along the backs of cattle in shed this winter. Topped up every few weeks or so. Works better than spot on in my opinion.
