Made a bit of a frivolous purchase last night. Been deliberating for a year over the right size to get, really looking for 8te, on steel with blade but supply and demand got the better of me and plumped for this machine.

Looks tidy enough.
Be sure to keep the oil fresh in the track hubs(y)
Thanks, will check that when I get it home. It’s a 2004 with 7100hrs, 3 buckets included, new chains and sprockets 2000hrs ago, looks dry except for a weep from a coupling on the slew motor. To be honest those pics are flattering, it’s had a bit of a ‘brush’ respray over some rusty bits on the cab that could do with addressing properly. A project for next winter or the one after!

Change the slew box oil too, if you can do it just after it’s been used, it will be easier and you will get more oil and crap (if there is any) out, then leave for as long as possible to drain and refil(y)

Good digger them, we had one. A lot better than the current ones. Changing track motor oil is a good idea as suggested by @Shovelhands. Also when tracking, pull the levers gently, don’t snatch at them

Thanks, what’s the issue with the tracking. Are the leavers very responsive and put strain on the chains if jerked?

No it’s more so for in any digger, just snatching at the levers starts everything off with a sudden bang. It’s just easier on the track motors, you don’t want to be fixing/replacing track motors, they are expensive
