We moved from Cheshire .land was very highly priced and where we were around Nantwich you could not grow grass much after the end of June

Aye true, cant see anything coming up for sale in Cheshire for decent acreage for the money. Nice part of the world though.

New Zealand, great place for kids if you are looking at starting a family, weather better than the UK and a good place to sell steel framed houses.

We moved to NZ from Cheshire, nothing wrong with Cheshire just preferred NZ after working over here for 6 months. Fantastic place to live particularly if you like the outdoors life and have a young family. Land quite expensive now due to increase in values and a weak pound v strong dollar. Plenty of Real Estate agents (land maggots) willing to show you farms, try Bayleys web site.

19 years ago. I was 39 when we moved with 4 kids aged 11, 6 and twins 2

When did steel framed homes catch on? There's two being built locally. One is quite a big conventional-looking house at the bottom of the school hill in Aberaeron. The other is nearly finished and is highly unusual in that at first glance it looks exactly like a traditional dome top hay barn in brown corrugated iron, plus a lean-to. Both these have been erected in the last six months and I have never noticed steel frame houses before.

Since the business is house building, not farming, it would make sense to go where the housebuilding is going to be. Wherever that is. Pretty safe to assume that the outskirts of large towns will get more houses, along with South East England generally. The last thing you need is overly long commutes to work.

It is a big decision and not always easy to make the move, go for it, you will not regret it.
