BFG's have lasted us 60-70k, but only on high mileage cars as the carcasses perish and break up far too fast. Got cooper discoverer stt's on now and the traction is almost unstoppable. can't comment on lifespan yet as not done enough miles.

Insa Turbo Dakars are remoulds with the same tread pattern as BFG Mud Terrains, but at half the price. I’m on my second set and still very pleased with them.
However, any ‘proper’ off road tyre will be noisy on the road, so may need to have a decent stereo too, if you travel any distance.

Any Mud tyres are going to be noisy.
That's the trade off if you need them.

Years ago I found the BFG had a great tread pattern, but the carcass didn't seem as tough as it could be, especially if you also have a lot of rock / stone. I stopped buying BFG then because I was having too many carcass failures at road speed while still having lots of tread.
That was 20 yrs ago I will add . . .

I found BFGs to go woody and hollow sounding as the miles went on albeit with plenty of tread.. Last 2 sets were like that. Been on Grabber ATs since.

BFG have the best chance of getting you back home.

Not if the tyre blows out at high speed. ( which happened frequently to me about 20 yrs ago, that's why I stopped buying them ) because it's been bruised or damaged somehow
Hopefully they are stronger now than they used to be, but back then they just weren't heavy enough for a true "light truck" tyre

Depends how aggressive a pattern you want. For a dedicated off-roader mud tyre it's hard to go past Simex
Some of the cheaper Chinese/Asian tyres actually do pretty well, just they use weird compounds that don't last so well if you are on-road with them, it's always a compromise.
You can definitely spend money on "the brand" instead of "the rubber" when it comes to tyres.

If your not worried about road noise then the insa turbo special tracks are the ones to have, I'd say at least 80% of the group's I go off roading with run them, including myself
