There are now two Producers Organisations
Dairy Crest direct and Direct Milk (Muller).

As far as i can gather the Direct meetings are not going well for the buyer as farmers can see that with the right elected members in place it gives them a voice.
As for those that have said I haven't been very vocal, my Chairman is a DCD member and knows far more about he Muller side then I do, but i am catching up fast.

The new contracts certainly doesn't seem very exciting. I think the forecasting is particularly unfair whilst I agree that it is of mutual benefit to forecast milk volumes there is no room for TB failure.

Or wet weather. It will be impossible to predict on a grassland system. Muller say the contracts will be cost neutral but couldn't tell us who would benefit from the new contract.

There MMG 7 bord member
5 on aligned contracts
2 non aligned
This needs to change. Non aligned members will never stand a chance with this board and im hearing more and more farmers are seriously thinking of handing in notice.

Our meeting was pretty heated locally and there was a lot of very angry non aligned farmers which was to be expected. Quite a lot of farmers considering their position very seriously last night. Common theme is no one wanting to sign contract and no confidence in farmer board. Many farmers were so angry they left straight after meeting. Paying main board £400 per day when they have no say was a very sore point.

What I want to know is Dec non aligned milk price is over 22ppl. cream is 11.7 ppl. Why are we still being told that we have to wait for market returns for cream? Is the rumour correct that the big retailers claim the cream value for their aligned milk?

Who was chairing the meeting?

Where your views listened too or will the new contract go through whatever?

Roddy was chairing it. We had to listen to them for an hour and a half but they did listen to all our views. They have promised to look again at the forecasting because we said it wasn't achievable.

Looks like some muller non aligned producers are complaining in the press on FWi.
Has anyone contacted their elected representative because as far as I know nobody has bothered to and surely that would be better than going straight to the press with their problems..
