Not NH or Case. They need LHM fluid, it's usually bright green. Brakes are a separate sealed system within the backend.
Would be a lot easier if they just used the backend oil.
Ever days a school day, I suppose it eliminates brake contamination into backend if they do fail. Only think that would concern me second hand is people using wrong fluid heard of issues with dot4 in Manutius also

Ah well, I'd better explain.
The pedal master cylinder, the axle slave cylinders,, pedal side of the trailer valve, and the pipework between are all isolated from the main backend oil. Normally they two fluids should never meet. If a seal goes inside the axle, it is possible for the brake fluid to leak into the axle. So you can have leak and nothing to see on the floor as the green stuff lands in the axle oil.
The main wearing parts, discs etc are all in the main oil which aids cooling. The downside of this is that any wear, or breakup of the brakes ends up in the backend oil, valves, solenoids etc. Some tractors are better at dealing with it than others, in rhis case, generally NH tractors are very well filtered but it just takes a bit to get in the wrong place and ££££

Changing brakes as standard practice although a pain can save a load of cash.

That seems like the worst of both worlds? Still can get contaminated if disks fail and you could contaminate the brake circuit if you use wrong oil ?

Pretty much sums it up!!!

Not sure nowadays, somebody will maybe know, but some tractors used to have axle and gearbox oil separate from hydraulics, which I always thought was a good idea. The adoption of hydraulic clutches, powershifts etc has meant they are all in together now.
