Are any forum members vaccinating their cattle for this?
There was a big article in FW about it recently and I know we have had issues with bought in cattle in the past.
What’s the vaccine like? Effective? Easy to administer? Expensive?
Thanks

Is it in the UK?
It went through NZ like a plague! It cost the country a fortune to eradicate

There are various strains around, tends to flare up when you mix cattle from different origins. There was a sad case of someone in Cumbria a few years ago who had to destock and start again after importing some cattle. I did not know there was a vaccine, I wonder which strains it might control. I would be very interested if it was broad spectrum.

Sorry, I was TB testing.
yes, it’s in the Uk, mainly in the dairy herds as far as I am aware.
We have had some bought dairy cross calves test positive for it a few years ago, and was keen to prevent that ever happening again.
I spoke to the vet and he said the vaccine can be imported under license, but we would have to show reasons why we need it (eg positive test from animal health).
Don’t think it will be a goer for us, but interested in any feedback
