Hi all
We have a 50 kw pv system with a import/export smart meter .We pay Stark to collect both import/export hh data and we pay Western Power as our meter operator.A while ago we moved our electric supply contract to npower ,through our broker ,and notified them of the smart meter and who collects our data.
The day we moved npower de appointed Stark for our import hh data. They then turn up in the yard and change
the modem/sim in the meter. Then all the export hh data dissappears.Eon pay our FIT payments both generation and export.
Now I discover that WPD have been de appointed as our meter import operator by npower.
What a mess and our broker is struggling to get any sense out of them.Anyone had similar problems.
Hope it makes sense TIA

Nightmare! I've been through something similar with the phone lines... I tried switching the landline from one supplier to Vodafone, for reasons beknown only to them they took over the fax line instead. At this point the landline stopped working and the number was deassigned. I then incurred early termination fees for switching the fax line from the original provider, even though I never wanted to switch that in the first place. To top it all Vodafone then tell me they can't deliver ISP services from my exchange so I was left completely high and dry.

I've not had a landline since, and I've switched to 4G for internet. There's a lot to be said for just sticking with the status quo whilst everything works.

Agreed,it's a nightmare.Surely it wouldn't be too difficult to give details of the meter and who operates it when changing supplier.

If I read this correctly, WPD own the meter and you lease it, with Stark reading and submitting the data. So the meter wasn't npower's to fiddle with in the first place.
My first call would be to who owns the kit.

AS @Fogg says it is a nightmare when you get involved with specific companies.
May 19 when I moved house I ported my landline from Bt to Vonage absolutely no problem this march (20) I tried to get a landline to my fresh house (Bt) I eventually got it in June and to port the number back to Bt. over 3 months down the line and it is still impossible to achieve. Having followed both the advice from BT and Vonage the number is unable to be assigned to me. Excuses include I had moved house and the addresses didn't match, too It should have been done before cancelling it with the Voip provider. It just keeps going on.

Now when you mention Npower I wonder why the heck do we use them. I have had many credits and invoices for the same period using the same meter readings many times and all meters are supposed to be "Smart" pity the company isn't.
Saying that I am signed up with them for the next 3 years even gocompare couldn't match the rates, so I live with it.

Power are wanting the data collection for them selves as there robbing bar stewards. cost £375 a year for metering and data colllection each side. I was unaware they could just turn up and change the metering as that is a separate issue to supply. I guess they slipped that one into the paperwork
