No her mother is a simmental out of a Highland x whitbred, they make cracking cows

It will grow into a big cow then, I have some Beef Shorthorn cows out of Blue Greys and they will be a good 200kg heavier and a foot taller than their mothers

Do they produce anymore meat per acre through their calves?
Or would they be more profitable as just terminal cross on the Blue Greys?

Produce a more commercial calf as less hairy but I find them a bit big for me so gone down the Luing route, partly for a scheme and partly so I need less bulls/crosses but nowt wrong with a Blue Grey

Yeah it's a real shame but I for one am doing my best to sell the WBS as a stand alone suckler breed in its own right. Like you I keep a small herd of pures which cross very well, are good milking quite cows that live off very little and are bonny to look at as well

That's interesting, I would never of thought they would end up that big out of blue greys. Would your luings not be bigger?

No Luings will be a similar size but hairier and less hungry if you get my drift

Yeah a long way back ran a Kerry for a few years with the Cheviot shearlings as they are easier to lamb with narrower head and shoulders. Got some cracking lambs but those dots still come out three generations later if you buy the wrong Leicster tip
