is this really the answer for the uks jobs, skill shortage? i know i keep going on about this, but the weekends papers said the transport industry alone are 100,000 short of drivers , and supermarket deliveries could be at risk? Yet on the news we see so many saying thayv lost their jobs, i know that say since the war skill shortages have allways been there but its seems to be coming to a head? Every business , industry seems short of workers, even the army, that has been shrunk and shrunk is understrengh? agriculture short of workers, construction industry, industrial making things? importing people to do these many many jobs cant be the answer ? if so many of our own who are able to work arnt ?

As you mention labour is short everywhere.I think a major issue here is prospective workers are sick of having to jump through so many hoops and mostly at their own expense and they don’t want to do it.I’ve no idea what a truck licence costs but then all the other stuff on top.I know plant operators need to do very expensive tests to get on machines and renew these at regular intervals again at their own expense.poor rewards for the jobs don’t help either.I’ve read on fb recently of farmers unable to get hold of harvest staff and some youngsters who do get jobs maybe forced to work 16 plus hours a day having no time to cook proper meals and living in dodgy caravans too and treated poorly.I know a lot are treated well though.the time has come and it’s an employees market and not the employers.

Well if half these places could tip or load a lorry straight away . And be a lot more flexible. Lorry’s wouldn’t lose half a day , meaning more work done less drivers needed.
Simple
Oh we don’t start till 8 am , we finish at 4 pm oh it’s dinner time .oh it’s not my job . Idiots
But if half these lads were any good they be dangerous

I saw the FB post by the Sun ??? yesterday about empty shelves. Pages and pages of folks whining about Brexit and the shortage of drivers. I was going to mention that thank goodness there's still plenty of farmers providing plenty of food to fill the shelves......

I didn't bother. It'll only fall on death ears.

Shortage of labour in the UK ,that has population of over 60,000,000 million people, something seems a bit out of kilter, and that’s putting it politely :scratchhead:
That said, how anyone who offers employment to youngsters, stops employees from being on cursed phone rather than concentrating on the job they are MEANT to be doing , I do not know.Thank goodness at 70 I don’t have to cope with the above situation.
