Netting for pig sheds

Does anyone use netting in their pig sheds over the top of the pens the piglets are kept in (sorry I am not sure if that is the right terminology) to stop drafts- we have a couple of requests for this using a netting that can be used multiple times and disinfected?

This is new to me so any feedback would be appreciated.

Most of our customers use a Terram over the top of the weaner lying area Will. The trouble is it's not readily disinfected between batches. Typical pig building length 60m over 20 pens. If you offered something that was economical, had some strength to straddle a pen say 3-4,5m deep and 3m wide (bay width) there could be a gap in the market for al-in all out B&B operators . Your alternative would be to go to Screwfix and buy garden grade mesh each time

That is exactly the feedback we have had so far - thank you.

I am not sure on the practicalities of re-rolling and disinfecting then unrolling this is something we need to think about.

It's going to be tricky to find a solution which presents a better option than the current.

A plastic mesh that can be rolled out over a catenary wire, rolled up and immersed in a tank of disinfectant ?

We use Terram type stuff. It doesn't get cleaned each batch but we do sometimes take it all out give it a good brush and shake off.
Don't think it would work rolling it up and submerging it as there can be a fair bit of dust, straw and whatever else stuck to the sheet.
Whatever you come up with doesn't want to be to dear as at somepoint it the pigs will get it.

We have used both types of Terram over our pens, but ours is elevated to 2m high or cat walk Height with a drape on the ends down to top of dividing panels, creating a kennel type area you can stand up in. I don’t think any woven type material would be that reusable after a couple of batches due to the amount of dust that it harbours, we use the cheapest 3 m width we can lay our hands on and if the batch are trouble free we will use again, if we get any complaints in the batch it gets disposed off and new is put in, we blow ours of with a leaf blower but it is far from clean and any moisture on it and it goes like cardboard.
